The local area

Les Hirondelles and the Old Bakery Cottage are ideal places to spend quality time with family and friends. The property is also an excellent base for exploring the local area, which benefits from outstanding scenery.

Of particular interest in the area are:

A choice of local vineyards offering tours, tastings and apero concerts with live music.

Albi: this beautiful city has a famous cathedral, the Toulouse-Lautrec art museum and an old quarter with winding streets and individual shops.

Saint Antonin: on the banks of the Aveyron this market town is so picturesque it has been used for film locations. The Sunday morning market is famous and the river is a base for kayaking and climbing.

Medieval bastide villages, Cordes sur Ciel, Puycelsi and  Bruniquel. Walking the cobbled streets is like stepping back in time.

Toulouse: the red city, famous for Airbus and the cité d’espace. Visit these and the old quarter and magnificent central square.

Walking and cycling tracks run close by and our neighbouring riding stables offer lessons, trails on horseback and donkey rides.

In the summer many nearby villages stage fêtes musicales, marchés gourmandes and vide greniers (good for picking up that shabby-chic bargain). Gaillac has apéro concerts, where you can listen to live music and sample local wines and charcuterie, every Friday evening in July and August.
